Is God Good Only When Life Is Good?
In the Book of Job, Job lost his wealth, his children, and his health all in a short amount of time. His wife, who was suffering emotionally because she had lost greatly as well, said to him.
“Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!”
But Job said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips. Job 2:9-10.
If Job had listened to his wife and cursed God, Satan would have rejoiced, saying to God, "See, I told You that Job was only blessing You because You were blessing him."
But to Satan's dismay, Job stood fast in his integrity, perseverance, and love of God, trusting and believing that He is good.
And, because of his faith, the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning. Job 42:12
